Police are hunting two hooded youths after a spate of violent street robberies has blighted the city centre in recent weeks.
A man in his early 30s, who can not be named for legal reasons, became the latest victim of the gruesome twosome; sustaining multiple head and facial injuries when he refused to hand over his belongings. He is now in hospital, and although his condition is stable, he is said to be suffering extreme psychological damage after his ordeal, and so far is refusing to cooperate with the authorities.

Even though the attack happened in broad daylight, no witnesses have as yet come forward, so police are trawling through CCTV footage of the area in the hope of catching the delinquents on camera.
Councillor Murray, from Canley Council has condemned the attacks and stressed the need for the community to rally together in the face of such adversaries: “We must send out a strong message to these hoodlums who threaten our peaceful way of life. We will not be intimidated by the few that try to ruin it for the many. Together we must unite.”The pair have targeted people walking alone, with cash, jewellery and mobile phones top of the muggers’ wish list.
Brutal
Three identical muggings over the weekend, varying in severity, have kept staff at St Hugh’s A&E extremely busy, with Staff Nurse Tina Moore warning: “These thugs seem to have a complete lack of respect for human life; we’ve seen some appalling injuries over the last few days, and I urge people not to go out on their own.”
Police believe the crimes could be drug related, and have asked the public to take extra care when leaving their homes, and encourage anyone with any information to come forward.
