Key Witness Injured in Hit and Run

A key witness in the murder trial of teenager Carly Samuels was knocked down in a hit and run last night. Alisha Danniels is recovering in hospital, but said to be in a stable condition.

Alisha Danniels is the former girlfriend of suspect Tito Morientes, who is due on trial alongside alleged accomplice Dwayne Fox later this month. Alisha originally provided an alibi for gang member Tito Morientes; retracting her statement enabled the police to unlock the case and make an arrest.

Sun Hill station haven’t confirmed whether they believe Tito Morientes to be behind the hit and run, but local residents fear gang warfare is behind the attack and the situation is escalating out of control. One onlooker, who saw Alisha injured on the road outside his house commented, ‘The poor girl was left for dead. These kids will do whatever it takes to settle a score.’

Police are determined to tackle the ever increasing problem of teenage gangs, but don’t feel the situation can be rectified overnight. Sun Hill police station issued the following statement: “We will continue to implement our high visibility strategy and tackle the problems associated with gun and knife crime. There is no easy fix, but we are determined to clean up the streets of Canley.”
