St Jacob’s resident anaesthetist Doctor Michael Drummond was today cleared of any wrong doing by the General Medical Council, following the tragic death of a patient under his care.
Mr Prophet went under a general anaesthetic for a routine operation, but whilst under the knife on the operating table his heart stop and he died.
On previous occasions an overdose of anaesthetic has caused patients hearts to suddenly and fatally stop. This was not the case with Mr Prophet.
The surgeon at the time and also Drummond’s boss Mr Clifford Peers also answered questions at the GMC’s hearing today. He gave supporting evidence that suggested Drummond did not act in anyway carelessly or do anything incorrectly.
Michael Drummond left the hearing completely exonerated.
